REDEFINING RACING EXPERIENCE WITH THE BATHURST HOT LAP VR
The Challenge
Created by Catalyst, in collaboration with TLA Worldwide, sought to redefine the racing experience for fans of the Red Bull Ampol racing team. The task at hand was to encapsulate the thrill of the Bathurst racing circuit at Mount Panorama into a virtual format. Moreover, there was a need to intensify the fervour of racing while ensuring that fans felt both the adrenaline rush and a deeper connection with the brand.
FROM PERSONALIZED RACER IDS TO A VIRTUAL RACING ODYSSEY
The Solution
An immersive VR racing journey was designed, putting fans right alongside Triple 8 racing legends. The experience included a meticulously designed 3D model of the V8 Chevrolet Camaro and a vivid representation of the iconic Bathurst circuit. Before diving into this virtual realm, fans were treated to a pre-race engagement, creating their personalised Racing Driver ID card, further amplifying the anticipation. As they embarked on their VR journey, they started in the pit lane, mingling virtually with racing icons and getting a primer on the advantages of Ampol Premium fuel. The V8's interiors, festooned with Ampol branding, ensured the brand's presence was felt throughout the experience. The true sensation of racing was evoked as users felt the rush of speeds up to 300 km/h, making the entire experience truly authentic and unforgettable.
